Description
Colt Hartford, CT, USA 2nd Generation built in 1968 Model 1873 (SAA), .45 Colt, SN # 47015SA
Mirror-polished barrel, nominally 5.5″ long, with still-polished
transition cones in standard geometry and an undamaged muzzle.
All six chambers of the cylinder feature polished bores and precisely
machined chamber exits with slight oversize, and with only minimal
variations among them. In a cylinder star, the transport surfaces on the feed side exhibit slight variations among them, with overall still slight bulges. The cylinder
end face and chamber muzzles are undamaged and in flawless condition. The cylinder
features a press-fit bushing and a cylinder axis that can be inserted with only minimal play,
which is free of defects except for thin spots in the bluing in the load-bearing area.
The locking pin receptacle shows only the slightest signs of wear. Furthermore, the breach, when viewed with the naked eye, shows only minor
signs of wear in the cylinder star mounting area and around the firing pin bushing. Feed mechanism in practically flawless condition.
Excellent timing across all six chambers. The drum gaps are narrow across all chambers, with only minimal variation of 0.15 mm in each case. In the firing position of each of the six
chambers, the drum exhibits only minimal play in both the radial and lateral directions, and slight play in the axial direction.
Excellent, smooth-gliding action in single-shot mode with safety, loading, and firing detents, and with a crisp, clear trigger pull free of creep.
Barrel, ejector, ejector housing, cylinder, cylinder pin, cylinder pin retainer, grip, trigger, and screws finished in a deep black, opaque, high-gloss bluing; however, on the back of the grip there is a conspicuous impact mark extending down to the bare metal, measuring approximately 1 mm x 2 mm next to a scratch mark on the right grip panel, as well as other wafer-thin, approx. 15 mm to 20 mm long, scratch-like bare spots behind the trigger guard
and, furthermore, various others, mostly extremely fine and only in exceptional cases extending down to the bare steel, small scratches and impact marks.
Frame features genuine color-hardening, finished with an evenly vibrant, luminous
color scheme. Hammer features a finely cut, grippy, sharp fish-scale pattern on the cocking area, also deep black, opaque, and high-gloss dip-blued, with both flanks highly polished to a mirror finish.
Barrel engraved on the top with “COLT’S PTFA MFG. Co HARTFORD CT USA,”
on the left side with the stamped standard inscription “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45,” proof marks on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. On the left side of the frame, two lines of patent data above the Rampant. At the very front is the mark of the German importer (Helmut Hoffann).
A quick-draw front sight flush-mounted in the barrel.
Black hard rubber grip panels with embossed fish-scale pattern and a large oval featuring a rampant figure; in only slightly worn condition and, except for the mentioned impact mark, almost flawless. German nitro-stamped, Munich 1968.
NRA standard: Still excellent Condition (2- to 2)
